H.E. Md. Golam Sarwar, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sweden met with members of Sweden-Bangladesh Business Council (SBBC) and other Swedish entrepreneurs at a breakfast meeting. In the conglomeration of the well-known Swedish companies, the Ambassador emphasized on potential business sectors of Bangladesh such as ICT, Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals, Leather and Leather goods, Ceramics, Health sector, Ship Building Industry, Automobile, and Garments & Textiles etc. where entrepreneurs from Sweden and other Nordic countries can safely invest.
He highlighted Bangladesh Government’s investment incentives for foreign investors which includes facilitating imports of capital machinery and raw materials, assistance in obtaining industrial plots in the export processing zones, attractive and competitive tax incentives, land ownership by foreign bodies, one stop service center etc.
The Ambassador presented a short video on Bangladesh´s Hi-Tech Park project at Kaliakoir in Gazipur District. The Ambassador also disclosed the plan of Bangladesh Government to establish about 12 Hi-Tech Parks throughout the country. He said that the purpose of initiating Hi-Tech projects is to develop a world class business environment in Bangladesh for innovative companies. This project is an outcome of Bangladesh Government´s ´´Vision 2021´´ to become a middle income country by using Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
