Welcome to our SBBC Breakfast Roundtable: Bangladesh’s Graduation and Future Trade Conditions with the EU – April 30, 08:00 AM
Sweden Bangladesh Business Council (SBBC) is pleased to invite you to a focused breakfast roundtable on Bangladesh’s upcoming graduation from Least Developed Country status and its implications for future trade relations with the European Union.
Bangladesh is approaching a critical transition in November 2026. Today, the country benefits from duty free and quota free access to the EU market under the Everything But Arms arrangement. Following graduation, these preferences will be phased out, with potentially significant consequences for trade, particularly in the textile and apparel sector.
At the same time, a revised EU GSP regulation is expected to enter into force on 1 January 2027, introducing stricter requirements related to sustainability and compliance. This creates both challenges and opportunities for companies operating in or sourcing from Bangladesh.
This roundtable will bring together representatives from Kommerskollegium, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Business Sweden, industry, and other key stakeholders to exchange views and discuss practical implications.
Why attend?
• Understand what the transition from EBA means in practice for your business and supply chains
• Gain insights into how GSP safeguard mechanisms could impact Bangladesh
• Explore implications for trade, employment and investment
• Hear perspectives from policymakers, experts and industry peers
• Discuss possible policy pathways and future EU Bangladesh trade relations
