Swedish Embassy in Dhaka and Business Sweden organized the trip to Bangladesh. Volvo, ABB, Ericsson (memb), Flir (new Member), Hifab, Indpro (memb), SEB (memb), Scania, SEK, EKN (memb) and SBBC, together with Business Sweden and Swedish Embassy were represented in this delegation. This was the second official trade delegation that visited the country. The delegation team met national governments, relevant organizations and companies.
Ambassador Johan Frisell and Mia Hallén and the team at the Embassy did great preparatory work, together with Anna Liberg and her team from Business Sweden in India, which made this trip successful. We had three intensive days filled with many meetings, which were equally well-planned: we started meeting at the top of the hierarchy and then with companies and organizations under that ministry consecutively. Swedish brands have a good reputation in Bangladesh. The delegation set-up was also good because SEK, EKN and SEB were those members of the team who were important for buyers.
The purpose of the meetings was not only to sell products but also to hold many constructive discussions in order to build relationships for future business. Authorities in Bangladesh were very positive about the visit. Bangladesh values quality over price and takes responsibility for their commitments, for example repayment of loans. The country offers very favorable terms of investment for export companies.
The delegation has received good press coverage and publicity there. Mizanur Khan, chairman of the board, represented SBBC.
